Download your account data
This export contains your current account profile settings, linked providers, claims, roles, categories you own, notes you own, teams you created, and current team memberships. Team-wide exports remain separate.
The portable ZIP is the handoff package for additive restore and cross-site transfer. It still keeps the full account manifest even when the current import path intentionally leaves the target account settings unchanged.
When that import runs, matching records are checked one by one by content rather than exported IDs. Identical matches are skipped, and matching records with different data are reported as skipped instead of being overwritten automatically.
During additive restore, mapped notes compare location plus title plus image set, while mapless notes compare category path plus title plus image set. Matching titles or descriptions alone do not make a duplicate.
Team data exports
Team exports are separate from personal account exports. Only current team admins can download team-wide data, because the file contains memberships and notes that belong to the team as a whole.
The website keeps team export as a separate JSON file so admins can review the shared record clearly. That same JSON can later feed the additive account-import path when someone needs to restore team-authored categories and notes into personal scope without duplicating matching personal records.
During additive restore, mapped notes compare location plus title plus image set, while mapless notes compare category path plus title plus image set. Matching titles or descriptions alone do not make a duplicate.
Matching team settings and memberships are still exported for recordkeeping, but they are not automatically applied onto the target personal account during that import.
GPX waypoint files
GPX is the waypoint handoff format used by many GPS apps, mapping tools, and geocaching downloads. Use it when you want to exchange mapped notes with third-party tools instead of moving full account data between LocationNotes and Geotrackable.
LocationNotes exports only full notes that already have saved coordinates. Mapless notes, deleted notes, and quick-stop style records are not written into GPX.
Imported GPX waypoints become normal notes with coordinates. The import never overwrites an existing note. Matching title-plus-coordinate notes in the same personal or team scope are skipped and listed on the receipt instead.
Each imported waypoint becomes a normal mapped note, and the upload asks whether the new notes should be Public or Private and whether they belong in your personal scope or a team scope you already belong to.
Common third-party references include the official GPX format guide from Topografix and Geocaching.com's software and GPX download help. Topografix GPX. Geocaching.com.
Those files are for waypoint exchange with outside tools. They are not the same thing as the full JSON or portable ZIP account exports on this page.
Images and upload moderation
If you include images, the portable ZIP carries the large image files meant for restore. The matching import flow re-screens them, skips anything that fails moderation, and regenerates the smaller delivery sizes for the accepted files.
The service does not retain the original upload as a downloadable website file after processing. Only resized JPEG variants are stored for delivery.
Your choices
Account exports can be downloaded as readable JSON or as portable ZIP packages. The export keeps the full manifest, including settings that a later additive import may intentionally leave untouched on the target account.
Team JSON can also feed the same additive account import path. Team categories and notes become personal categories and notes only when the target account does not already have a matching personal record.
